Lomi Lomi works by using the forearms and palms to perform fluid, rhythmic movements over the body, often described like a sensation of gentle waves. It differs from many other forms of massage, being not only a deeply therapeutic massage but also given with an awareness of energy and the intention to bring harmony and balance to the mind body and spirit.
Sacred Lomi is rooted in the Temple Style Lomi. or Kahuna Bodywork. The practice integrates other lineages that support you to live a life of aloha and thrive in your massage or healing profession and in life. The flowing forearm massage techniques save your hands and protect your body. The shamanic principles and energetic awareness support you to take care of yourself and deepen your capacity to facilitate healing for clients. Ho’oponopono, breath work, presence and aloha cultivate alignment with the physical, energetic, emotional and spiritual bodies. Practitioners are taught how to create and hold a safe and sacred space for themselves and their clients.
To promote relaxation, the student learns to massage parts of the body simultaneously, which divides the client’s focus to achieve a deep sense of balance and harmony. This curriculum explores the seven Hawaiian principles, Lomi Lomi bodywork strokes, conscious stretching, self-care for the healer and client, intimacy and self-awareness, nature’s elements, and working in quiet, intimate spaces with clients.
